As Highgate gears up for our third yearling sale season, MIUCCIA represented our inaugural yearling class well on Saturday with a victory in the Game Face Stakes for her stakes debut.
Registering a maiden breaking victory two starts ago at the same track, MIUCCIA was ready to go in this start. She was never far off the leading pair, who dueled throughout the first half of the six-furlong affair while MIUCCIA patiently waited to make her move.
Taken five wide into the stretch by Miguel Vasquez, MIUCCIA spent the final furlong pulling way for a 3 ¾ length win with only three horses within 9 ½ lengths of her at the line.
MIUCCIA was a $140,000 purchase by Marquee Bloodstock from Highgate’s 2022 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearlings Sale. A pinhook purchase, she was sold for $230,000 the following year to racing owner JR Ranch, who has her in training with Gustavo Delgado.
The filly has now won two of her four starts for $87,240 in earnings.
