Already graded stakes placed after selling with Highgate Sales last November, Harlan Estate improved that performance on Thursday with a 1 ¾ length victory in the Listed Tapit Stakes at Kentucky Downs.
Tucking in near the back of the pack early in the one-mile turf race, he didn’t start moving up until the field entered the unique far turn. By the time they started the stretch run, Harlan Estate was just behind the leaders and Declan Cannon quickly swung him to the outside to give the gelding running room.
Harlan Estate appreciated the move and quickly confronted the leaders before racing past them inside the final furlong. He had to fight a challenge near the line but it wasn’t enough to keep him from comfortably winning in the end for Graham Grace Stable and D. Whitworth Beckman.

Third in the Arlington Stakes (G3) in June for his first post-sale blacktype, Harlan Estate took his earnings to $191,400 since going through the ring with this victory.
Selling for $150,000 at last November’s Keeneland Horses of Racing Age Sale, Harlan Estate is one of two stakes performers to hail from that consignment with Midnight Rising finishing third in the Marine Stakes (G3) in July.
