GLEE Romps in E.L. Gaylord Memorial

Tuesday, October 1, 2024

Stakes placed in her third start, juvenile GLEE was a stakes winner in her fourth on Saturday with a 15 ½ length win in the E. L. Gaylord Memorial.

GLEE went off as the favorite in the 6 ½ furlong Remington Park race and quickly showed her backers had put their faith in the right place. Pressured early on, she handled it without concern and stuck close to the rest of the field until the stretch.

At that point, GLEE steadily pulled away with jockey Stewart Elliott not having to do much to get her to extend her lead to 15 ½ lengths at the end. It was a one-horse show at the line with the third placed runner another six lengths behind the runner-up.

Sold by Highgate at the Fasig-Tipton October Sale to Mike Rutherford for $60,000 last year, GLEE has won two of her four starts with a stakes second as well as a stakes fourth to her name.

A Texas-bred, GLEE was offered on behalf of breeder No Escape Ranch at the sale.

Highgate offers 14 yearlings at this year’s Fasig-Tipton October sale, including another Texas-bred in Hip 53.
